Manuka (Leptospermum scoparium) is a shrub of the myrtle family, native to New Zealand and Southeast Australia. It is an evergreen plant with dense branches and small, pointed leaves. The flowers are white, pink here and there, with five petals. Their shape resembles a star. It is a honey plant.
Manuka is the most abundant shrub in New Zealand. The climate of New Zealand favors the very rapid growth of Manuka shrubs, which have a conical shape and reach approx. 4 m in height. Depending on the region of New Zealand, Manuki shrubs vary in leaf shape, flower size and color, and take various forms: from a plant that creeps on the ground to woody forms.
Pure Manuka oil, obtained from Manuka shrubs and trees, comes from New Zealand, is an exceptionally strong antiseptic, has antibacterial and antifungal properties.
This oil is also used to create perfumes.
To be used correctly oil concentrates should be diluted in proportions to produce perfumes.
Dosage:
The most durable perfume extracts contain up to 40% of oils (usually 25%).
ESDP (Esprit de Parfum) contain 15-30% oils.
EDP Eau de Parfum contain 12-25% oils
Eau de Toilette (EDT) contain 6-18% oils
Colognes contain about 5-7% oils.
Aftershaves contain 2-4%.
Refreshing waters, i.e. mists - up to 5%.
To create your own perfume or aromatic water, you should mix the oil compositions with alcohol, usually 80%, and leave it in a dark place for at least 3 weeks. It is advisable to shake the perfume bottle at least once a day in order to better mix the oil with alcohol.
After 3 weeks, the perfume is ready for use.
Do not use without dilution. Avoid contact with undiluted skin and mucosa.
Natural oils can sensitize you, so before using it in perfumes, you should test a small amount of the oil on your skin for at least 24 hours, if there is no reaction, you can use it for the production of perfume or toilet water.
