Cinnamaldehyde was isolated from cinnamon oil in 1834 by Jean-Baptiste Dumas and Eugène-Melchior Péligot and synthesized in a laboratory by the Italian chemist Luigi Chiozza in 1854.
Cinnamaldehyde is widely used in cosmetics and perfumery. Often used in perfumes with natural, sweet or fruity scents, In flavoring food as a flavoring agent in chewing gum, ice cream, candy, juices and drinks. Cinnamaldehyde has been tested as a safe and effective repellent against mosquitoes and black flies.
Aldehydes are found primarily in flower, fruit and citrus compositions. This is due to the structure of their molecules - they contain long chains of carbon atoms connected with an aldehyde group, which form compounds with very pleasant aromas, with fruit or floral aromas.

The most durable perfume extract contains up to 40% of oils (usually 25%).

To make your own perfume or toilet water, mix the oil compositions with alcohol, usually 80%, and leave it in a dark place for at least 3 weeks. It is advisable to shake the perfume bottle at least once a day in order to better mix the oil with the alcohol.
After 3 weeks, the perfume is ready for use.
The product is sold as a raw material for the production of perfumes, cosmetics and soaps.
