Benzoin resin is a balsamic resin obtained from the bark of several tree species in the genus Styrax. It is used in perfumes, some types of incense, spices and medicine. Its main ingredient is benzoic acid. Commonly referred to as "benzoin", it is referred to herein as "benzoin resin" to distinguish it from the crystalline benzoin compound. The benzoin resin does not contain this crystalline compound. Benzoin is also called benzoin gum or benjamin gum, benzoin is not a water-soluble polysaccharide.

To be used correctly oil concentrates should be diluted in proportions to produce perfumes.
