The oil is obtained from the fruit of a small tropical May Chang tree (Litsea cubea), related to cinnamon and found in East Asia.

May Chang is also known as mountain pepper, exotic or tropical verbena. Fruit, bark, leaves and flowers have long been used in Chinese medicine. On the other hand, essential oil has a relatively short history of use and has only become popular in recent years, mainly due to aromatherapists, for whom it is one of the favorite oils used in treatments.

The scent of the essential oil is often compared to lemongrass, but it is softer, fresh, sweet, warm with notes of musk, almost like lemon verbena.

To be used correctly oil concentrates should be diluted in proportions to produce perfumes.

Dosage:

The most durable perfume extracts contain up to 40% of oils (usually 25%).

ESDP (Esprit de Parfum) contain 15-30% oils.

EDP Eau de Parfum contain 12-25% oils

Eau de Toilette (EDT) contain 6-18% oils

Colognes contain about 5-7% oils.

Aftershaves contain 2-4%.

Refreshing waters, i.e. mists - up to 5%.

To create your own perfume or aromatic water, you should mix the oil compositions with alcohol, usually 80%, and leave it in a dark place for at least 3 weeks. It is advisable to shake the perfume bottle at least once a day in order to better mix the oil with alcohol.

After 3 weeks, the perfume is ready for use.
